Folklore customs and traditions have established the prefecture of Serres as one of the richest regions in Greece. That’s because people in Serres are not only native but also Middle-Asians, Thracians and people coming from the Black Sea.

     Unique customs and traditions do revive in different parts of Serres, such as the custom of Gynaecocracy, Anastenaria, Klidonas and Gerakina in Nigrita of Serres.
