All though the prefecture of Serres  have had an  intense tourism, it has also exploited in a large extent its natural environment. The admirable private initiative has given to the market a large fame for the decorative luxuriance and fullness of its stores.

     A special position in the local market is detained by “akanes” which is an Asian traditional marsh-mallow made with butter and almond and is only produced in the town of Serres from 1927.
