In the eastern part of the city, only 2 km away, you can see the picturesque suburb of Agios Ioannis, which constitutes another jewel for the city. 

     The first image that visitors get is of the age-old, deep-shaded plane-trees and the abundant water that forms small waterfalls flowing from everywhere. In an artificial lake made by the Municipality and taking advantage of these waters can see many ducks swimming. The rural restaurants in the area of Agios Ioannis offer their shade to the visitor.

     Every year during the hot months (spring-summer) thousands of visitors enjoy the beauty of its surrounding nature. 

     Excursion coaches cannot pass through Serres without visiting Agios Ioannis resort. In fact it constitutes a custom, so that the visitors refer to Serres-Agios Ioannis and not to Agios Ioannis-Serres.
